िवराट virāṭ, s.m. Name of one of the midland or north-west districts of India (supposed to be the modern Berār);—name of an ancient king (the Pāṇḍavas being obliged to live in concealment during the thirteenth year of their exile, journeyed to the court of this king and entered his service in various disguises):—virāṭa-ja, vulg. virāṭaj, s.m. An inferior sort of diamond (said to be found in the country Virāṭ).
