hātif (act. part. of هتف 'to call (to), to exclaim,' etc.), part. adj. & s.m. Calling (to), crying out, exclaiming;—s.m. One who cries aloud;—an encomiast, a praiser;—a voice from heaven, or from an invisible speaker (syn. ākāś-bānī);—a secret monitor; an angel, a guardian angel.
