murīd (act. part. of ارْود 'to will, wish, desire,' etc., iv of راد (for رود ) 'to seek, or desire'), adj. & s.m. Desirous, willing;—a candidate for admission into a religious order, during his state of probation; a disciple, a proselyte; a scholar; a follower;—the obsequious follower (of another);—a devotee (whose sole endeavour is to comply with the will of God), a hermit:—murīd karnā(-ko), To make a disciple of; to admit as a probationer into a religious order.
