mars̤iya (for A. مرثیة mars̤iyat, inf. n. of رثی 'to weep over, to bewail'), s.m. A lamentation for one dead, an elegy, a dirge, an epicedeum (esp. the one sung during the Moḥarram in commemoration of Hasan and Hosain):—mars̤iya-ḵẖẉān, s.m. Reciter or chanter of a mars̤iya:—mars̤iya-ḵẖẉānī, s.f. Reciting or chanting of a mars̤iya.
