g̠urra (for A. غرة g̠urrat, inf. n. of غرّ 'to have whiteness, or a white patch, etc. on the forehead' (a horse)), s.m. Whiteness; clearnness, brightness;—a white mark, a star, or blaze on the forehead of a horse;—a speckled, or irongrey, or roan horse;—the first, or commencement (of the month, etc.), the night in which the new moon is seen, the first day of the moon, calends;—the first appearance or dawn of day, morning or its splendour;—the face, aspect, forehead, front (of a man);—the first, the best, or the chiefest (of anything);—g̠urra batānā, or g̠urra denā(-ko), To put (one) off to the (next) new moon; to put off, to shuffle with, to get rid of, etc.; to pass over or by (syn. ṭāl-denā).
