जूता jūtā[Prk. जुƣअं; S. युƠकं, rt. युज् ], s.m. A pair of shoes; a shoe, a slipper:—jūtāuṭhānā, v.n. To raise a shoe (in order to beat), to be ready to apply the shoe:—jūtāućhalnā, jūtābarasnā, v.n.=jūtā ćalnā, q.v.:—jūtā-jātī, s.f. jūtam-jūtā, s.m. Mutual application of shoes, a fight with shoes; a scuffle, fight:—jūtādenā(-ko) = jūtālagānā, q.v.:—jūte-kā āshnā, s.m. One kept in submission or rendered tractable by the application, or through dread of the shoe:—jūtā-lagānā, jūtāmārnā(-ko), To apply the shoe (to), to give (one) a shoe-beating.
