yatīm (v.n. of the measure fa`īl, fr. یتم 'to be deprived of a father'), s.m. A fatherless child, an orphan; a pupil, ward;—a valuable jewel;—adj. Singular, unique, uncommon, rare, precious, incomparable:—durr-ě-yatīm, s.m. A large and precious pearl (which is found alone in the shell).
