گاب

गाब gāb (i.q. gābh, q.v.), s.m. The tree Diospyros embryopteris, or D. glutinosa, or Embryopteris glutinifera (the viscid pulp of the ripe fruit is used as gum, in bookbinding; and in place of tar, for paying the seams of boats: the fruit contains much tannin; and the extract of the fruit is an excellent astringent);—pulp, pith, substance;—(dialec.) pregnancy (=gābh, q.v.).
