डण्ड ḍanḍ[Prk. डंडो; S. दण्डः], s.m. A stick, cudgel, rod;—the part of the arm above the elbow;—an athletic or gymnastic exercise (placing the hands on the ground and then bending down so as almost to touch the earth with the breast);—punishment, fine, amercement, mulct, compensation; retaliation; tax:—ḍanḍbharnā(-kā), To pay a fine, to make compensation, pay damages (for):—ḍanḍ-pel, s.m. One who exercises himself at the ḍanḍ:—ḍanḍpelnā, To practise the gymnastic exercise of ḍand:—ḍanḍḍenā= ḍanḍbharnā, q.v.:—ḍanḍ ḍālnā(-par), To levy or impose a fine, or tax:—ḍanḍlenā(-se), To fine, amerce:—ḍanḍ-munḍ-ke bal-se, adv. With the power of the arm and head, with all one's might:—ḍanḍ-yog, adj. Deserving of punishment, punishable, penal.
