चतुर् ćatur (changeable in comp. to ćatus, and ćatush), adj. Four:—ćatur-asra, adj. & s.m. Four-cornered, quadrangular;—a quadrangle; a quadrangular figure, a square:—ćatur-ang, adj. & s.m. Consisting of four members or parts, quadripartite;—an entire or complete army, comprising elephants, chariots, cavalry, and infantry;—the game of chess (cf. P. shatranj);—a kind of song; a variety of music:—ćatur-angī, adj. (f. -inī) = ćatur-ang, q.v.:—ćatur-ānan, adj. & s.m. Having four faces;—an epithet of Brahma:—ćatur-bhuj, adj. & s.m. Having four arms; four-sided, quadrilateral;—an epithet of Vishnu;—a foursided figure, a square:—ćatur-bhujī, s.f.
