चाला ćālā[ćāl+S. कः], s.m. Motion; departure; an auspicious moment or day for setting out on a journey (there are different days for different quarters of the compass); the departure of a bride or wife for the home of her husband; the ceremony of the wife's going to and returning from her father's home shortly alter marriage (four such visits are made; see ćār-ćāle);—stratagem, trick; misfortune, calamity.
