टप्पा ṭappā[for thappā= thāp, q.v.+S. कः], s.m. Spring, leap, jump (in measure); bound, range (of a ball, bullet, etc.); distance, intervening space, interval (cf. pallā); a long stitch (in sewing); a relay, post (of ḍāk-bearers, post-runners, etc.); station for relays, poststation, stage, halting orresting-place; a post office; a raft, a catamaran (cf. ṭāpā); a mode (in music); a kind of hook; a small tract or division of country (smaller than a pargana, and consisting, generally, of a large town with villages and lands dependent;—ṭappā ḍālnā(-meṅ), To put in long stitches, to use long stitches, to baste:—ṭappākhānā, v.n. To bound or ricochet (a ball):—ṭappāmārnā, v.n. To bound; to make a long jump, take a long leap; to skip (in reading), to read in a desultory way; to baste (=ṭappā ḍālnā).
