टाप ṭāp (i.q. thāp, q.v.), s.f. Hoof (of a horse); stroke (of a horse's forefoot), pawing; sound (of a horse's hoof, or of beating, etc.), tramp (of a horse); tap, whack; patting, stroking, feeling (cf. thāp);—a bamboo frame for catching fish (=ṭāpā):—ṭāp-ā-ṭo`ī(or ṭāp-ā-ṭo`iyā) karnā, v.n. To feel about (for), to grope, to rummage; to trifle; to find out and repair (leaks in a thatched roof):—ṭāp mārnā, v.n. To paw or beat the ground (a horse), etc.=ṭāpnā, q.v.
