wat̤an (inf. n. of وطن 'to abide, dwell,' etc.), s.m. Native country, country, home, abode, residence, dwelling:—wat̤an iḵẖtiyār karnā, To make (a place) one's country or home, to fix one's residence (in a place or country):—wat̤an-jāne-kīruḵẖṣat, s.f. Leave to go to one's native land; furlough:—wat̤andushman, s.m. Enemy of (his) country,' a traitor:—wat̤an-dost, s.m. 'Lover of (his) country,' a patriot.
