हलका halkā, (dialec.) हलुका halukā[Prk. हलुकअं, or लहकअं ु ; S. लघुक+कं], adj. (f. -ī), Light (in weight, or in character, or in colour, etc.); unimportant, of no consequence, of little moment; of little or low estimation, or authority, or influence; ineffectual; insignificant; frivolous, puerile; mean, pitiful, petty, scurvy, shabby, despicable, debased; silly;—small (as a measure, or capacity, etc.); weak; easy; poor (as soil, or as blood); shallow; mild, gentle, soft (as wind, heat, cold, rain, etc.); neap (tide);—faint, pale (as colour); soft (as water);—trifling, slight (matter, or work); manageable; easy of endurance;—light, easy of digestion (as food, or diet); of low price, or of little value; low, moderate; cheap;—depressed (trade):—halke-bhārīhonā, To be weary (of), to feel burdensome;—to lower or humble oneself:—halkā-phulkā, or halkā-phūl, adj. Exceedingly light, light as a feather:—halkājānnā, v.t. To think lightly or meanly of, to disesteem, despise, disdain, scorn:—halkākarnā, v.t. To lighten (a burden, etc.), assuage, ease, mitigate, alleviate,exonerate;—to abate, to reduce;—to lower (one, in the esteem of), to disgrace, to debase, to depreciate:—halkāmol lagānā(-meṅ), To put a low or moderate price (upon):—halke-halke, adv.
