िनज nija, vulg. nij (fr. rt. janwith ni), pron. adj. (f. -ā), Native, indigenous; own, special, proper, peculiar, personal, individual, particular; one's own (my own, his own, our own, etc.); private, unofficial;—good, excellent;—continual, perpetual, eternal:—s.m. One's own country, or home, or office; one's private affairs; one's own secrets (besides being syn. with apnā, nijis, in some of the dialects (as the Eastern Hindī, for example) used as equivalent to ātmāand sva, or sva-rūp; e.g. nijtantr= sva-tantr; nij-dharm= sva-dharm, and also=mukhya-dharm; nij-sukh= ātma-sukh):—nij-adhikār, s.m. A prerogative:—nij-ānand, adj. & s.m. Rejoicing (or one who rejoices) in himself, an epithet of the Deity (syn. sva-rūp-ānand):—nij-bhā`ī, Own brother (i.q. apnā, or sagā, bhā`ī):—nij-putr, Own son, legitimate son:—nij-bahī, s.f.
