मालती mālatī, vulg. māltī, s.f. A bud, blossom;—a maid, virgin, young woman;—moonshine, moonlight; night;—the name of several plants and flowers, e.g. Jasminum grandiflorum; Bignonia suaveolens; Echites caryophyllata; Gaertnera racemosa, etc.:—mālatī-latā, s.f. The creeping plant, Gaertnera racemosa:—māltībasant (or basant-māltī), s.f. A kind of powder given in consumption (of which the principal ingredients are gold leaves and pearls).
