मारता mārtā[imperf. part. of mārnā; and=Prk. मारंतओ; S. मारत् (अन्त+कः)], part. Beating, striking, etc. (see mārnā);—s.m. One who strikes or beats:—mārtā-pīr, s.m. The one who can overcome, or cure, or teach a lesson (to), etc.; the match (for), the masterer (of), the man (or boy, or lad, for):—mārte-ḵẖāṅ, s.m.
