kampās (corr. fr. the English), s.f. A compass, a pair of compasses; a prismatic compass; a theodolite or other similar surveying instrument;—a shaft (for one horse):—kampāskāmaḥkama, The survey department:—kampās lagānā, v.n. To set up a compass, or theodolite, etc.; to make a survey (of), to survey:—kampās-wālā, s.m. A land-surveyor.
