कलेजा kalejā[S. कालेय+कं], s.m. The liver (commonly applied to the liver of a human being; the fem. kalejībeing used for the liver of an animal); the liver, lungs, and heart collectively (syn. jigar-band), the vitals; the heart; stomach, heart, mind, spirit, courage, magnanimity:—kalejāućhalnā, The heart to bound or leap (with joy, etc.); to be overjoyed; the heart to palpitate:—kalejāuṛā-jānā, To lose heart, to be anxious or distracted:—kalejāulaṭnā, The heart to come to the mouth; to be exhausted with excessive vomiting:—kaleje-par ćoṭlagnā(-ke), To be wounded in the heart; to suffer a heavy shock or blow:—kaleje-par sāṅp phirnāor loṭnā, To suffer jealousy or envy; to repine:—kalejāpaknāor pak-jānā(-kā, or merā, etc.), To be deeply wounded, to be cut to the quick:—kalejāphaṭnā(kā), The heart to burst; to feel pity or compassion; to be disturbed with grief; to burst with envy or jealousy:—kalejātar honā(-kā), 'The heart to be fresh'; to be at ease, to be well off:—kalejāthām-thām-kar ronā, 'To press the heart and weep,' to weep bitterly:—kalejāthām-ke rah-jānā, To suppress (one's) feelings; to repress grief:—kalejā ṭhanḍākarnā, To satisfy the heart's longing, to obtain (one's) wish; to get ease:—kalejājalnā(-kā), 'The heart to burn,' to suffer sorrow, to be heart-sore, to mourn:—kaleje-se lagā-rakhnāor lagā-lenā(-ko), To keep next to the heart, to hold very dear, to love exceedingly, to cherish; to caress, embrace:—kalejākāṅpnā, The heart to tremble or palpitate; to feel afraid; to suffer cold:—kaleje-kībīmārī, Liver-complaint; heartdisease: kalejāmuṅh-ko ānā= kalejāulaṭnā;—(also) to feel sick (at the sight of), to loathe, abhor:—kaleje-meṅ āg lagnā, To feel a burning thirst:—kaleje-meṅ ḍāl-rakhnā(-ko), To cherish in the heart, to love or esteem exceedingly:—kaleje-wālī, or kaleje-khā`ī, s.f.
