कतार् र, and करतार kartār, = S كرتا कतार् , and H. करता kartā,s.m. Doer, maker, author, creator, agent; workman; operator; party (in a cause); proprietor, master, chief; husband; (in Gram.) the nominative case (kartāis commonly used as a suffix to verbal nouns to form nouns of agency, e.g. pālan-kartā, 'cherisher, protector'):—kartā-putr, s.m. A son who performs his father's obsequies, and is therefore considered entitled to the inheritance:—kartā-purush, s.m. An epithet of Brahmā, or of Vishṇu, or of Ś`iva, as the creator:—kartā-dhartā, or kartā, s.m. The active or managing member of a family.
