कान kān[Prk. कणो; S. कणर् ः], s.m. The ear;—hearing; heed, regard;—the handle (of a vessel); helm or rudder (of a ship); (in Prosody) a spondee; (in Geom.) the hypothenuse (of a triangle), diagonal (of a tetragon):—warp, twist (in a rope or string):—kānā-bātī, or kānā-phūsī, s.f.
