fě’l (fr. fa’l, inf. n. of فعل 'to do,' etc.), s.m. A deed, an action, act; labour, work, operation;—acting, pretending, feigning, pretence, pretext, sham;—a shameful deed; an unnatural act; coition; adultery;—(in Gram.) a verb:—fě’l-ě-tām, s.f. A complete or attributive verb:—fě’l-ě-shanī’a, s.f. An evil or shameful deed; adultery; prostitution; an unnatural offence:—fě’l-ẓāminī, s.f. Security for good conduct:—fě’l-ě-’abas̤, Lost labour; an absurd undertaking:—fě’l karnā, v.n.
