fatḥ, vulg. fataḥ(inf. n. of فتح 'to open,' etc.), s.f. An opening, aperture; a beginning, start;—victory, conquest, triumph:—fatḥpānā(-par), To gain a victory (over):—fatḥ-peć, s.m. A mode of tying the turban;—a kind of ḥuqqa-snake:—fatḥkarnā, v.n. To make a beginning, to enter (on); to start, to set out;—v.t. To conquer: fatḥ-gaḍh, s.f. A pillar or monument to commemorate a victory:—fatḥ-mand, adj. & s.m. Victorious, triumphant; victor, conqueror:—fatḥ-mandī, s.f. Victoriousness; victory:—fatḥ-nāma, s.m.
