’aqd (inf. n. of عقد 'to tie,' etc.), s.m. A tie, knot; the marriage-knot, marriage (=‘aqd-ě-nikāḥ); a contract, compact, covenant, agreement, league, treaty, engagement;—responsibility, accountableness, suretiship;—(prob. corr. fr. A. ’iqd) a necklace, a collar; a bulse, a string (of pearls, etc.):—’aqd-bandī, s.f. The tying of the marriage-knot; concluding a contract, etc.:—’aqd karnā, v.t. To give (one) in marriage; to take in marriage, to marry, wed:—’aqd-meṅlānā, v.t. To marry, wed:—’aqd-nāma, s.m. Marriage-contract:—’aqd honā, v.n. To be married.
