`āqibat (for A. عاقبة , quasi-inf. n. of عقب 'to succeed, follow,' etc.), s.f. End, termination, conclusion; futurity, the future; the future state or life;—adv. In the end, finally, ultimately, at last, after all:—`āqibatu`l-amr, The termination of the business, the long and short of the matter;—adv. Finally, etc. (=`āqibat):—`āqibat-andesh, adj. Looking to the end; looking into futurity; far-seeing, farsighted; provident, prescient, discreet, prudent, considerate:—`āqibat-andeshī, s.f. Regard to the end or issue or consequence, a looking to the future; far-sightedness; foresight, prudence:—`āqibat-andeshīkarnā(-kī), To look to the future, to make provision (for), to provide (against); to exercise prudence:—`āqibat bigāṛnā(apnī), To mar or to jeopardise (one's) future state of bliss:—`āqibat-kātosha, s.m.
