aid (inf. n. of صید 'to take, capture; to hunt,' etc.), s.f. Hunting; the chase; game, chase, prey, an object of the chase; an animal pursued, or fished for, or ensnared, etc. (syn. shikār); quarry (of a hawk);—(colloq.) a compact (between pigeon-fanciers) by which one may capture and keep as many (of the other's) pigeons as he can; rivalry in the capture of pigeons (e.g. hamārīaur uskīaid hai):—aid-afgan or aid-figan, s.m. One who brings down game, a hunter, etc.:—aid-afganī, s.f.=aid-andāzī, q.v.:—aid-andāz or aidbāz, s.m. A sportsman, hunter, fowler, etc.:—aid-andāzī, s.f. The killing of game, pursuit of game, the chase, etc.:—aid-band, s.m. A taker or capturer of game:—aid-gāh, s.f. Place for game, hunting-ground, preserve:—aid-gar, s.m.
