alāt = P صلات alāt (quasi-inf. n. of صلّی 'to pray,' ii of صلو ), s.f. Prayer, supplication (esp.one of the five stated prayers enjoined on good Mohammadans in the course of the twenty-four hours);—invocation of (God's) blessing (on), a blessing, benediction;—the Fātiaor opening chapter of the Qor`ān.
