āf (for A. صاف āfi, act. part. of صَفَا , rt. صفو 'to be clean or pure,' etc.), adj. Pure, clean, clear; calm, serene; open, unclouded, bright (as the sky); open, sincere, candid, frank; simple, innocent; plain, simple, easy of comprehension, evident; distinct, perspicuous (a speech, etc.); correct, true, exact, precise (as an account, etc.); downright, decided, point-blank (as a refusal or denial, etc.); out and out, thorough, complete, entire; smooth, flat, level (as a surface or plain, etc.);—adv. Clearly; plainly; distinctly; openly, candidly, without reserve or guile; clean out, outright; decidedly, flatly; thoroughly, entirely:—āf-ā-sāfor āf-āf, adv. Clearly, openly, clean out; without difficulty; at once; exactly, precisely, etc. (see āf, of which these are emphat. forms):—āf ćhūnā, v.n.
