शील śīl, s.m. Disposition, inclination, character, nature, natural disposition; quality; tendency; practice, behaviour, conduct; good disposition or nature, good conduct, propriety; amiability; virtue, piety; form, shape, beauty; (at the end of adj. compounds) in the habit of, disposed to, etc. (e.g. dān-śīl, 'disposed to give';bhay-śīl, 'of a timid disposition'):—śīlnidhān, s.m. 'A treasury of virtue,' etc., an epithet of any very excellent person:—śīl-vat, or śīl-vān, or śīl-vant, adj. & s.m. (f. -vatī), Possessed of good qualities; of a good or amiable disposition, well-conducted;—a welldisposed person, etc.
