Thing, affair, business; state, condition, case (syn. ḥāl); quality, property, nature, constitution, disposition; degree, importance, eminence; rank, dignity, state, pomp, grandeur, glory; radiance, lustre:—shān-ćoṭṭā, s.m. One who imitates the importance, or grandeur, or dress, etc. (of another):—shān-dār, adj. & s.m.
