सेस ses [Prk. सेसो; S. शेषः], adj. Remaining, other, all the other; the last;—s.m. Remainder, rest, residue, leavings; end; appendix (see śesh);—name of a celebrated mythological thousand-headed serpent regarded as the emblem of eternity (he is called the king of the Nāgas or snakes inhabiting Pātāla, and is represented as forming the couch and canopy of Vishṇu whilst sleeping during the intervals of creation, and sometimes as bearing the entire world on one of his heads):—sesāvasthā, sesavasthā, s.f. The last state or condition of life, old age:—ses-sā`ī, s.m. 'The sleeper on the serpent Ses,' an epithet of Vishṇu:—ses-nāg, s.m. The serpent Ses (q.v.).
