सƯ sapta, vulg. sapt, adj. Seven:—saptāvaraṇ(˚ta+āv˚), adv. Seven times:—saptpad, adj. Containing seven padas; having seven steps:—sapt-padī, s.f. The seven steps at marriage:—sapt-padīn, s.m. 'The state of seven steps,' intimacy; the advance of seven steps taken by a bride to meet the bridegroom:—sapta-daś, adj. Seventeen; the seventeenth:—sapt-r̤ishi, sapt-arshi, sapt-rikh, s.m. pl.
