सोन son [Prk. सोणो; S. शोणः, q.v.], s.m. A sort of red sugar-cane; the plant Bignonia indica; the river Sone (which rises in the district of Nāgpūr, on the table-land of Amarkanṭak, four or five miles east of the source of the Nerbudda, and running first northerly and then easterly for 500 miles, falls into the Ganges above Patna):—son-bhadrā, and son-nadī, s.f. The river Sone.
