सन्ते sante [fr. sant, q.v.], adv. In the being; in the presence (of); during, whilst (syn. hote, or hote-hu`e, or hu`e: the word, in this sense, would appear to be peculiar to the Benares dialect as used by panḍits):—postpn. (=santī, q.v.), In the place (of, -ke) instead (of), in lieu (of), in substitution (for).
