salaf (inf. n. of سلف 'to pass away,' etc.), adj. & s.m. Past, preceding, former (times, etc.);—such as have gone before, predecessors, ancestors; past or former times;—money advanced for merchandise, etc.;—a purse, bag. سلف silf (v.n. fr. سلف ; see salaf), s.m. Wife's sister's husband, brother-in-law.
