sālik (act. part. of سلك 'to go along, to travel,' etc.), part. & s.m. Going, travelling;—traveller; (met.) devotee; a class of Moḥammadans who observe the law and lead a domestic life; an individual of that class (P. plur. sālikān). H S سالگرام सालमाम sālagrām, vulg. सािलमामsāligrām [S. शाल+मामः], s.m. A species of black quartzose (found in the river Gandhak), containing the impression of one or more ammonites (conceived by the Hindūs to represent Vishṇu; and hence it is worshipped by the Vaishṇavas).
