zāl [Zend zaurura, fr. zaurva, rt. zar = S. जर् ], adj. Old, decrepit, grey-headed (man or woman);—name of a famous Persian prince, father of the celebrated Rustam, and son of Sām, son of Narīmān (he was called zāl, or zālě-zar, because he came into the world with white hair, and a red countenance; the former like that of an old man, the latter of golden hue).
