रान rān[Pehl. rān; Zend rāna, rt. ar= S. ar (r̤iṇoti)], s.f. The thigh (syn. jāṅgh):—rān-tale dabānā, v.t. 'To press under the thigh,' to have completely in (one's) power, to subdue; to mount, ride (a horse):—rān-se rān bāṅdhnā(-kī), To keep close to, to keep close watch over (one), to guard or watch diligently.
