धमकना dhamaknā[dhamak˚= Prk. धमक्क(इ), or धमक्के(इ), fr. S. धम+कृ], v.n. To shoot with pain, to throb; to beat, palpitate, thump; to glow; to flash, glimmer;—to make a rush; to make a hasty inroad or incursion; to run (against); cf. dhar-dhamaknā(in this last sense dhamaknāwould seem to point to S. dhāv as its source):—dhamak-uṭhnā, v.n. To throb, etc.;—to resound, ring again.
