दƣ datta, vulg. datt (rt. dā), part. & s.m. (f. -ā), Given, granted, presented, made over, assigned;—a common name or title of a man of the Vaiśya caste, and also of some Kāyasths:—dattātman (˚ta+āt˚), adj. & s.m. Self-given;—one who has given himself; a youth or orphan who gives himself to persons disposed to adopt him:—dattānapa-karman (˚ta+an˚), s.m. Nonresumption of gifts:—datta-pradānik, s.m. Resumption of a gift.
