خلافت

ḵẖilāfat (for A. خلافة , inf. n. of خلف 'to succeed or follow'), s.f. Deputy-ship, lieutenancy; the office or dignity of Caliph (khalīfa);—imperial dignity, monarchy (especially the successionof princes who ruled at Damascus and Bagdad from the time of Mohammad to that of Hulāku Khān).
