जूती jūtī[Prk. जुिƣआ; S. युƠ+इका; see jūtā], s.f. A shoe, a slipper:—jūtī-par jūtī ćaṛhnāor ćaṛh-jānā, v.n. One shoe to come on top of the other (superstitiously regarded as a sign of an impendingjourney):—jūtī-par mārnā(-ko), 'To strike or beat (one or a thing) against the shoe'; to spurn, disdain, despise, contemn:—jūtī-paizār, s.f. A fight with shoes; a general scuffle:—jūtī-paizār karnā, To fight with shoes:—jūtī-ḵẖor, jūtī-ḵẖora, adj. & s.m. Beaten with slippers; disgraced; mean, vile, infamous:—one so beaten; a vile or infamous person:—jūtī-se, adv.. It concerns my shoes; my shoes may care:—jūtī-kīnok-par mārnā(-ko) = jūtī-par mārnā, q.v.:—jūtī-kārī, jūtī-mār, s.f. The act of beating with slippers:—jūtiyāṅuṭhānā(-kī), 'To take up the shoes' (as a duty); to do menial service, to wait upon:—jūtiyāṅbag̠al meṅmārnā, To slink away or run off with (his) shoes under his arm:—jūtiyāṅ ćaṭḵẖāte phirnā, 'To walk about making the shoes creak'; to walk about doing nothing:—jūtiyāṅsīdhīkarnā(-kī), 'To arrange or dispose the shoes;' to perform menial service; to pay respect or homage (to); to cringe (to):—jūtiyāṅkhānā, v.n.
