थाप thāp [Prk. थप्पा; see thāpnā], s.f. Pat, tap, flap, slap, thump, cuff; paw (of a beast); the sound of the t̤abla or drum when struck with the palm of the hand:—thāp denā, v.t. To pat, to slap, thump; to strike a drum with the palm of the hand:—thāp mārnā, v.t. To slap, etc. (=thāp denā); to strike with the paw, to paw (as a tiger, etc.); to pat (cow-dung) into cakes and patch a wall (with them).
