तार tār[S. तन्ऽ; and cf. S. तारः], s.m. Thread, string; the warp or threads extended lengthwise in a loom; wire, cord, string of a musical instrument; uninterrupted series, line, continuation, succession; a letter-file; the electric telegraph (=ṭār-barqī); a telegraphic message, telegram; a hair of a curl or ringlet; the hair-worm or guinea worm; the snout, sucking tube, or trunk of most winged insects; the antennæ or feelers of prawns, flies, etc.; a bit, piece:—tār bāṅdhnā(-ke), To continue or repeat (an act) without interruption:—tār-bijlī, s.f.
