s own wife (used in North-Western India, particularly among the Jāṭs):—bīrbandhnī, s.f. A silver or gold chain worn by women on the forehead:—bīr-bahuṭṭī, bīrbahūṭī, bīr-bahoṭī[S. vīra+vadhuṭī], s.f. The red-velvet insect, the scarlet or lady-fly, Buccella carniola (commonly called the "raininsect," as it makes its appearance when the first rains have fallen: it is covered with a downy exterior resembling velvet, and of a scarlet colour:—syn. indra-badhu).
