भेंड bheṅḍ, s.m. The perennial waterplant Ӕschynomene aspera (Linn.), or Hedysarum lagenarium (Roxb.:�. It has thick stems mainly composed of light white pith which is made into toys, floats, hats, covers for wine-bottles, etc.: The so-called 'rice-paper' is made of this substance cut in very thin plates:—syn. solā,phūl-solā).
