भƠ bhakt (rt. भज् ], part. adj. & s.m. (f. -ā), Cooked, dressed;—attached, devoted; attentive, engrossed by; believing, pious;—one who has devoted himself to a religious life; adorer, devotee, follower, votary, zealot;—a Hindūwho performs for entertainment, dancer, player (see bhagat);—boiled rice, food, meal (=bhattā, bhāt):—bhakt-ādhīn, adj. In subjection to his worshippers:—bhakt-jan, s.m.=bhakt;—s.m. pl. Worshippers, devotees, etc.:—bhakt-rāj, s.m. 'Lord of the devout'; the Supreme Being:—bhakt-vatsal, bhakt-hitkārak, bhakt-hitkārī, adj. & s.m. Kind or gracious to worshippers, or suppliants, or faithful attendants;—gracious being; the Deity:—bhakt honā, v.n. To become a devotee, etc.; to be initiated as a devotee, be affiliated to a religious order.
