banāt, s.f. pl. (of بنت bint, fem. of ibn or bin, rt. بنی ), Daughters:—banāt-ě-nabāt, s.f. The tender herbage:—banātu`n-na`sh, s.m. The constellation of the Greater or Lesser Bear (consisting of seven stars, four of which are conceived to bear the resemblance of a na`sh or bier, and the remaining three to be the banāt or daughters preceding it).
