ispand, s.m. Herb of grace; seed of wild rue; seed of the meṅhdīor Lawsonia inermis; a species of mustard seed (the seed is burnt at marriages and births to drive away evil spirits, or to avert the mischievous effects of evil eyes:—also written sipand); syn. kālādānā).
